The History of Indian Coffee
The story of Indian coffee began in the 17th century when a revered Sufi saint, Baba Budan, is said to have smuggled seven coffee beans from Yemen to the lush hills of Chikmagalur. These beans found fertile ground in the rolling Western Ghats, where they thrived and grew into a flourishing industry. Today, India is one of the largest coffee producers in the world, known for its unique, shade-grown coffee that preserves biodiversity and offers a distinct flavor profile.

Our coffee is grown in the picturesque Chikmagalur district, also known as the birthplace of Indian coffee. Nestled in the Western Ghats, the region’s unique combination of altitude, rich soil, and favorable climate makes it ideal for cultivating both Arabica and Robusta beans. These beans are grown under a canopy of natural shade, a traditional practice that not only enhances the flavor but also promotes sustainability by preserving the local ecosystem.
